El Verano

yellow pear tomatoes

Nothing says summer like tomatoes, and nothing spells nostalgia, for moi, than yellow pear tomatoes. One summer, we grew several varieties of tomatoes, onions, garlic, squash, strawberries, raspberries, bababerries. There’s nothing like stepping outside and picking some tomatoes, garlic and onion and then stepping back into the kitchen, giving them a rinse and making jambalaya. I loved to eat these plump yellow beauties with feta and a vinaigrette, and more than a few times, I stood next to the bush and popped them into my mouth still warm from the sun.
